FISCALINI CHEESE - MODESTO, CALIFORNIA
Our dairy farm in Modesto, California was
founded in 1914. Our Swiss ancestors have a
long tradition of making fine hand-crafted
cheeses. Now we continue that tradition in this
country, on our state-of-the-art dairy where
cow comfort is our primary concern. Our dairy
has received national recognition for our
innovative ideas, extraordinary milk quality, and
environmental and animal welfare concerns.
Fiscalini Farms was among the
first dairies in California to be
certified by the California
Dairy Quality Assurance
Program for environmental
responsibility, and was the
first dairy in the nation to be
compliance in animal welfare issues. We passed both
third party inspections on our first try.
At Fiscalini Farms, the health and contentment of our
cows is our livelihood; we all strive to keep our herd of
registered black and white Holsteins among the happiest
cows in California. Our herd is cared for to the extreme.
They are given freedom to roam in large lots when the
weather is good, but are kept indoors when the lots are
wet. Their stalls are raked twice daily to maximize their
comfort. With the moderate climate of Central California,
our cows are cooled by “delta breezes” in the summer
and misted with water as needed.
“Great cheese comes from happy cows,
and happy cows come from California”
