Atlantis At Last
We cover a lot of parties here at Groovetickets, so it goes without saying that we've seen loads of weirdo party themes come cruising across our desk/inbox, ranging from “Roman orgy” to “Felix The Cat” to “interplanetary mushroom farmer” (seriously). But up till now no savvy promoters have cracked into the lucrative Atlantis market, so big props to PlurLife.com and Motive Media for being the first, with their sure-to-be-splendid The Lost City Of Atlantis bash on Saturday, November 29th at The Hudson & Gotham Theater in San Bernardino, CA. Doors open at nine PM and stay open until five AM, so that gives you (and the other 5000 all ages Atlantis aficionados) plenty of time to explore the five massive, banging, techno-soaked nooks and crannies of this mythical, vanished continent. Prepare to get wet.

Let’s Get Together
Be honest: who's surprised? You knew as soon as Daylight Savings Time hit we were officially over the hump and into autumn, and everyone knows that autumn is essentially just a long prelude to that day that makes the whole dance music universe giddy as a schoolgirl: December 31st. And look around – clearly Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and just around THAT corner is New Year's Eve. And New Year's Eve means Together As One 2009, courtesy of Go Ventures and Insomniac, blowing up in yr face once again, for the millionth (11th) year in a row. This installment is another nine hour headbang at the Los Angeles Sports Arena with booze, food, friends, sound systems, fireworks, memories, and VIP magic. Come together and stay forever.

Sing The Body Electronic

In spite of the smog, in spite of the traffic, in spite of the billboards covering every square inch of our fair city, we Los Angelenos are all very lucky individuals. This is something we ought not to lose sight of so easily. As a haven for drifters, creative types, party animals, and fame-lovers we get the lion's share of the planet's massive celebrations, and yet another example of this is being manifested on Saturday, November 22nd, when Iguanas Entertainment Inc. blasts off its straightforwardly titled Electronic Music Festival 2008 bash into the night sky. It's going down at the Hudson Theater and Gotham in San Bernardino, CA, and doors open at seven PM and close at six AM, which allows you to get home in time to splash some water in your face and dash off to Sunday morning church (JK, JK). The line-up for this insanity looks like a New Year's Eve party: get in on this electric action STAT.

Winter Wonderland
Folks “in the know” know how crucial Fresh Entertainment is to the Southern California nightlife landscape. And at the peak of the reasons for their “cruciality” (not a word, but deal with it) is the annual WinterFresh Festival they throw, and fortunately for your recreational schedule the 2008 installment is hitting you upside the head on Saturday, December 6th captained by a dense squad of DJs and dance music entertainers. This year's bash is taking place at Lot 61 on West 60th Street, and tickets get more expensive the closer things get to the date of the show, so early birds are thoroughly rewarded for their haste, FYI. Attendees can expect the usual mind-blowing symphony of dazzling lasers, wild lights, deluxe decorations, four winter themed areas, over 40 world class disc jockeys, video screens, snow dancers, crisp Funktion One sound, and some literal snowfall. And that's one thing you can never expect in LA (unless yr on a sound stage), so seize the opportunity, coolio.

Party Mardi
Any old fool with a floppy hat and fifty dollars to burn can catapult themselves to the top of the party heap, but only true champs can organize a celebration worthy of comparison to that famed Deep South hayride in the sky, Mardi Gras. And the annual smash-up masterminded by AMS, Mardi Gras Masquerade, is one of the few deserving of such meritorious praise. The 2009 edition is taking place Saturday, February 7th at the Hudson and Gotham Theaters in San Bernardino, CA, and it's AMS' fifth annual pass through this terrain, so obviously they're veterans at this point. Expect mass distribution of beads (ten thousand will be given away!), four freaky areas of music, an endless sea of masks, and ten dense hours of all-ages hedonistic revelry. Count the daze.
